    25 Oct 1825: petition of Selectmen of Sutton, Jon'a Leland, Abraham Chase, Darius Russell that John Putnam does by excessive drinking and idleness so waste his estate as to expose himself and family to suffering, request guardian.
    30 Mar 1827: Heirs cited to hear if Sylvanus Putnam only son of John Putnam dec'd should be appointed administrator, including woman "who claims to be the widow" and two sisters of Silvaney both married. 1 May 1827: Bond of Sylvanus Putnam.
    4 May 1827: Inventory of John Putnam of Sutton deceased: real: $1600; personal: $467.18, by Israel Putnam, David Tourtellot, Simon Sibley.
    24 Nov 1827: Affidavit of sheriff about serving citation for hearing on dower to Sylvanus Putnam, Joseph Putnam, Nancy Putnam, Peter Stockwell heirs of John Putnam living in state, by letter to Otis Morse in Norwich, CT, and Charles Rich in New Berlin, NY.
    Request for dower initially denied, and appealed. 1st Tuesday Feb 1828: Agreement regarding petition of Dorcas Putnam for dower in estate of John Putnam deceased: that 14 Jun 1798 John Putnam married Anna Cox, divorced Sep 1817 for adultery by him, that 15 Dec 1819 (the said Anna still living) John Putnam was married in Connecticut to the petitioner, that both she and him resided in Massachusetts prior to and immediately after marriage and there are children by this marriage still living. 23 Nov 1829: dower set off to Dorcas Putnam widow of John Putnam late of Sutton. Assent by Dorcas Putnam, Silvanus Putnam.
    2 Jul 1828: Estate insolvent.
    6 Dec 1831: Account of Sylvanus Putnam allowed. Creditors paid about 87 cents / dollar.
