In 1920 census he was a laborer in a lumber camp; 1930 a moulder in the iron foundry. Obituary J.E. MURPHY ST., 80 East Jordan - Funeral services for John Ervin Murphy, Sr., 80, who died Tuesday at his home here, will be held at the Watson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Daniel Milner of the United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mr. Murphy was born in Echo Township, Antrim County, Aug 21, 1897. On May 17, 1922, he was married to the former Erma Pinney at East Jordan where they have always made their home. He was employed at the East Jordan Iron Works for 35 years, retiring July 31,1962. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Ervin J. Jr., Gale L., Mrs. Jack (Ethel) Wilson and Mrs. Leon (Shirley) Beal, all of East Jordan; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother Raymond of East Jordan and three sisters, Mrs. Belle Sweet of East Jordan, Mrs. Charlotte Sadler of Alanson and Mrs. Hattie Towsley of Charlevoix.
