The oldest stone house in North Dumfries, built for the Milroy Family at a cost of $1,200, is now owned by E. R. Bibby, C.10, S1/2 L.3. Some of the doors and windows were used from Littles Tavern dated around 1830. Pg.35 Thomas Aspie signed papers on April 28, 1823 for the south half oflot 3, Con. 10 as recorded in ledger A, p.21. In November, 1826, headded the south half of the north half of lot 2, Con. 10. No furtherrecord was found of Mr. Aspie, but it would appear that on August 18,1828 John Milroy bought the same land from Mr. Dickson 'with all improvement thereon.' Ledger C, p.270 Pg.37 Possible ships 'Argus' of Worthington, England 'Sarah Mary Ann' of Maryport, England Pg. 38 John Milroy listed as arriving 1827 Obituary states he was born about three miles from Stranraer, Scotland on a farm named Tibbert. His will was registered Nov. 20, 1869 Memorial 2420, Pg. 149, No.Dumfries Deeds, Vol. 6. John R. McKenzie & John Milroy Jr. (his son)were the executors. All the living children were mentioned in the will. References
