Have been told that John was born at sea during the trip from Scotland. John Milroy Sr. is to have given his son a eight day watch at one time. John was deputy-reeve in 1857. Ordained a ruling elder in First UnitedChurch, Galt--Feb. 6, 1885. He was given an 8 day clock by his fatherswill. He was a Cameronian. Mrs. Veitch says he was born on the ocean crossing from Scotland --1851 census says born Scotland.
