At Cambridge Assizes on 12 March 1805, John Maskey was sentenced to seven years transportation for having stolen stockings and gloves. On 27 July 1807, he left England on the "Duke of Portland", a 523-ton Bordeaux-built vessel under the command of Master I C Spence and carrying 189 convicts. John arrived in New South Wales on 10 Nov 1807. References
