    Daily Tribune (Johnstown, Pa.), Friday, October 28, 1838, OBITUARY column - “John J. Kuhnley”
    PATTON-John J. Kuhnley, aged 67, died yesterday morning at his home here after a brief illness of pneumonia. He had been ill only two days. Mr. Kuhnley was a retired foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He was a son of John and Catherine Kuhnley and was born in La Jose, Clearfield County. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edith (Black) Kuhnley, and these children: Fred and Velma, both at home; Edward Kuhnley and Ailene, wife of William Blick, both of Patton; Mrs. Margaret Ahlstrom, Akron, O.; Ralph Kuhnley, Philadelphia, and Florence, wife of Dr. Joseph G. Lacue, Gallitzin. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. Pauline Brandon [sic], Kansas City, and Fred Kuhnley, Portland, Ore. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Kuhnley home by Rev. J. A. Turner, pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. NOTE: wife maiden name is not Black.

    a second obituary was published probably on Mon Oct 31st or Tues Nov 1st - JOHN J. KUHNLEY - John J. Kuhnley, aged 67 years, a retired foreman for the Pensylvania [sic] Railroad Company, and one of the best known residents of Patton, died of pneumonia last Thursday at 11:15 a. m. at his home on East Magee avenue. He had been ill only two days and his death came as a shock to the community. A native of Clearfield county, Mr. Kuhnley was born in LaJose on October 15th, 1871, a son of John and Catherine Kuhnley. He has resided in Patton practically since the founding of the town in the early nineties and retired from service with the railroad company about a year ago. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edith (Tucker) Kuhnley and these children: Fred and Velma Kuhnley, both at home; Edward Kuhnley, and Arlene, wife of William Blick, both of Patton; Mrs. Margaret Ahlstrom of Akron, OH; Ralph Kuhnley of Phildelphia; and Florence, wife of Dr. Joseph G. Lacue, of Gallitzin. A brother, Fred Kuhnley of Portland, OR, a sister, Mrs. Pauline Brandon, of Kansas City, KS, and several grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kuhnley residene [sic] by the Rev. J. A. Turner, pastor of the M. E. Church of Patton, and interment was made in Fairview cemetery.
