John Keyte was baptised on 30th October 1767 at Shipston-on-Stour, which was then in Worcestershire. He was the son of Mary Keyte, formerly Higgins, and her husband, John Keyte. John had a twin brother called Samuel, although he died just a few weeks after their baptism.

Sadly, John died when he was only eight years old, being buried at Shipston on 14th February 1776.
