  • Tennessee 1840 census includes John Hodge in counties as follows: Coffee (aged 50-59) with 2 slaves ; White (aged 20-29) ; Carrol (aged 40-49) ; Grainger (aged 20-29); Lauderdale (aged 30-39) ; Marshall (aged 30-39) ; Williamson (40-49) with 24 slaves.

Is John Hodge the father of Robert Hodge of Montgomery County, Kentucky?

Working theory ... see Person:Robert Hodge (36) for more info.

  • Montgomery County, KY 1840 census = No John Hodge.
  • Pulaski County, KY 1840 census = John Hodge (aged 40-49) with 2 males < 9. Unlikely. Sons are too young, and this John Hodge remains in Pulaski County where his birthplace is listed as NC in the 1850 census.
