John Grant arrived in 1777 with sons, Peter and Donald Grant and shortly after settled 6 miles west of Catskill, NY on a farm west of and adjoining the village of Leeds, known as Salisbury Farm, now owned [1926] by Mrs. Potter. John was the first person buried in the "Truesdale Cemetery" on the Township Road, near Hobart [halfway between Stamford village & Hobart].
