To the Hon. James Paddock, Judge of Probate, for the County of Gratiot in the State of Michigan:

 The Petition of Hanna Carl who is of the age of twenty-one years and upwards, of the County of Gratiot respectfully shows:
 That John Carl late of Seville in the said County of Gratiot departed this life in said township of Seville on the 29th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three leaving a last Will and Testament, as your petitioner is informed and verily believes.

That deceased was at the time of his death, an inhabitant of Seville said County of Gratiot and he was possessed of Real and Personal Estate, situate and being in the County of Gratiot...the estimated value thereof is the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars...

  And your Petitioner further...that the names and residence of the heirs at law of said deceased...are as follows:

Hannah Carl, widow, Seville John Carl, son, Seville Gideon Carl, son, Seville _Anna McKelly, daughter, Seville Children of Angeline Neff, Mahoning Co. Ohio

 Martin Neff, Ellen Neff, Henry Neff, Sally Neff, Irvin Neff, George Neff, Emma Neff.

To Whom It May Concern

That I John Carl of the township of Seville county of Gratiot and state of Michigan make this my last Will and testament for the disposition of all my Estate both Personal Real as hereinafter set forth the W 1/4 SW 1/4 Sect 15 Townsh 12 N Range 4 West Containing 40 Acres to John Carl and Morey Carl provided that said Morey Carl shall pay or cause to be paid to the said John Carl $200.00 then the said John & Morey Carl shall have equil trust in the said above Described Land with the ____ ____ ____.

All My personal property to be equly divided between John Carl Morley Carl Gidion Carl Angeline Neff and Susan McKelly provided that John Carl Shall pay to Each of the heirs the value of said property. w/o his the said John Carls Intrus in said property The value of said property to be Determined by a Disinterested man All of the above Described Property both personal and real to Remain and be controled by Hannah Carl my wife During her natural lifetime.
