John was employed as a farm laborer, and in 1860, was married and was working in the Kingwood District. (U.S. Census) His personal property totaled: $40. He had died by 1880, according to the Census of 1880. Mary was listed as a widow and was living with her brother, Charles C. Craig. It is possible that John left with his parents and moved west with them ca.1866. A "John Conley" living in Cambridge, Saline County, Missouri, is listed as the "designated representative" for Elisha Conley in a pension application dated 1/2/1873.
