According to the biography of Cyrus W. Bridgewater in 'History of State of California', he was the son of Belinda Haynes and John Bridgewater. The family moved from Cass Co., Illinois to Lynn Co., Kansas in 1857 (part of the property lay in Bates Co., Missouri).
