    "2 John2 Bailey (John1), of Salisbury and Newbury, 'weaver' and 'husbandman,' b. abt 1613; m. Eleanor Emery (John1?). He came with his father from Eng.; recd. land in the 'first division' 1640, and '43; rem. to Nb ab. 1644. John Bayley was taxed in S. in 1652; was there in 1653 and 4; was one of the original Amesbury 'commoners' in 1654, and recd. land there in 1658; but his name is not on later lists at A. He was of Nb. in 1661; oath freeman Nb. Oct 1669; oath al. at Nb. 1678. He d. March, 1691[Nb]. Will Dec 30, 1690; March 31, 1691; wid. Eleanor d. 1700; adm est. Dec. 23, 1700. Town of Scarboro' grant to Eleanor Bayley, 1670."
