TODO: Description: Almquist, John-find Land papers Category: Land Deed Local: Court House, Balsam Lake, Polk, Wisconsin, USA Date: 22 May 2004 Status: Open Type: 0 Priority: 8 Repository:

Per Lois Almquist Schiebel's document "An Account of the Amquists, An Epic of Elm Twigs" he was the first of the family to emigrate from Sweden. He homesteaded 155.75 acres in Clam Falls Township, Polk, Wisconsin.

From "An Epic of Elm Twigs" by Lois Almquist Schiebel, John was elected an officers in Clam Falls Township's first election held in the home of William Knowles in 1877.

John and Emanuel Almquist are on the 1875 State Census. BLM GLO records

John and Elizabeth moved to Idaho around 5 years after marriage. The had 6 children. Elmer, Victor & Hilda were some of their names-from the data from the Schiebel family. I have found 2 other names on http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~holton/cempics/kl_a-d.htm They are Almquist, infant 1908 & Almquist, Lillie 1904-1907-these could be related.

The death information came from the BYU Idaho website so it is not sourced yet. The birth date for John was a little different 11-16-1847.

Records completed for religious testing. Cannot determine date but will be between 1862-1871. No way to tell.
Not all family members are present. Severina b. 1855 and Emanuel b. 1844 are missing. Severina may be listed with her husband if she is married. Or she may not have survived. Emanuel might be listed with his wife if he is married or he may have immigrated already (1869).
1/8 means a farm that could feed 1/8 of a family since the number 1 represents a farm that could feed 1 family. The farms are split up between family members.

    1885 Wisconsin, Polk, Clam Falls, Ancestry.com, 20 Jun 1885.

John Almquist lists 1 male 2 females 1 born in the US and 2 born in Scandinavia.
The females are Elisabeth and perhaps a baby girl they had before Petter or a daughter that Elisabeth had from a previous marriage.
Note: See the oldest female besides Elisabeth in the family photo. Could this be her?

John Almquist 1 male and 2 females 1 born in the US and 2 born in Scandinavia.
John is the male and I believe that his wife Elisabeth would have been one of the females. The other female, born in the US, must have been a female child that did not survive. Reference number: CNWI064 Verified: YES

I do not know who the other male would be. They have listed that 3 were born in the US so I believe that they had a son that did not survive or that I do not know about.
