We don't know who Job's father was but suspect that it was another Job Gibbs who was born in 1735 in Freetown, MA. We have been unable to prove this. Job married Louisa Eddy in 1794 and they emigrated to Pittstown, NY. They built a home on Groveside Road in Pittstown, NY. According to Mrs. Ruth Olson, the last owner of the property, the house blew down in a windstorm in the 1920's. The cellar and some of the structure is still visible.

Job died in 1842 and is buried in the Gibbs family cemetery across the road from the house. The next year Louisa died and was buried next to her husband. In the 1950's, the Boy Scouts did a survey of the private cemeteries in Pittstown. I discovered the list in the Pittstown Town Hall on a Thursday evening in 1986. David Benjamin Gibbs, Job's son, purchased the property from his siblings.

The next day, I went to the farm of Ruth Olson on Groveside Road. She was very kind and showed me her deed to the property. It only went back to the previous owner. The home she lived in was built by David Gibbs in 1851. She asked a neighbor and his son to show me the cemetery which was in the woods across the street from her house. We have since visited the cemetery numerous times.

The property is now owned by Ruth's son, Bill White of Saranac Lake, NY. He is aware of the cemetery's existance. Under New York state law the cemetery belongs to the descendants and cannot be removed. In 2001, We visited the cemetery with grandchildren and placed a sign on it stating the New York Law.

In May of 2007, descendants of three of the six "Gibbs boys," who were sons of Alfred and Emma Gibbs; Phil Gibbs, Bob Gibbs and his wife Jill, Debbie Gibbs and Paul Gibbs visited the farm and cemetery.
