    In the Name of God Amen The fourth day of February in the fifteenth year of the Reign of our Soveraine Lord Charles by the Grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the faith &c. Annoq Domini one Thousand six hundred and Thirty nine I Joane Marshall of Colney Street within the parish of Stephens in the County of Hertford Widdow beinge Sicke and weak in Body but of good and perfect memorie Thanks be unto Almighty God therefore doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme Following That is to say first and principally I commend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God hopeinge assuredly through the death meritts and passion of Jesus Christ my Lord and onely Savior to be made partaker of life everlastinge And my Body to be devoutly Buried at the discretion of my Executor hereunder named And as Concerneinge my Temporall and worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God of his mercy to Blesse me I give and dispose thereofe as Followeth Imprimis I give and bequeath to Phillipp Marshall my Sonne the some of Fouer hundred pounds of Lawfull English money vizt Three houndred pounds by this my Will And one hundred pounds wherewith I stand Charged by his Fathers Will to pay unto him Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Tabith Marshall the som[m]e of Two hundred pounds of Lawfull English Money vizt one hundred pounds by this my Will and one hundred pounds more wherewith I stand Charged by her Fathers last Will to pay unto her Item I give and bequeath unto Anna Marshall my Daughter in like manner the som[m]e of two hundred pounds of Lawfull English Money vizt one hundred pounds by this my last Will when shee shall attaine unto the Age of one and Twenty yeares And one hundred pounds more wherewith I stand Charged by the last Will of Robert Marshall my husband And Father of her her Brother and Sister aforesaid to be paid unto her as by the said Will of her Father is devised As by the said Will for all their severall Three hundred pounds aforesaid whereunto relation beinge had more at large doeth and may appeare Item I give and bequeath unto my said Sonne Phillipp And my said two daughters Tabitha and Anna all my moveable goods and Chattells And plinsells? of house hold stuffe whatsoever and wheresoever to be indifirently equally and propotionally devided betweene them Item I give and bequeath unto my said Sonne Phillipp All my goods withoutdores vizt Plowes Carts Barrows And the like Item I give and bequeath unto John Morton my Grandchilde Sonne of my Daughter Sarah Five pounds of Lawfull English money to be paid within two yeares after my Death Item I give Item I give unto my said daughter Sarah Two shillings six pence All the rest of my goods and Chattells unbequeathed my Funarall expences beinge defraied I give and bequeath unto my said Sonne Phillipp whome I make the sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament In wittnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale The day and yeare first above written The Marke of Joane Marshall Sealed signed published and declared in the p[re]sence of And theise words Five pounds of Lawfull English money to be paid within two years after my decease And Robert were soe interlined In the p[re]sence of us whose names are underwritten before the insealeinge and delivery of theise p[re]sents: Gilbert Spencer Sr.: Tho Marke of William Eaver:

    This will was proved at London The Fifth day of January one thousand six hundred fifty fourer English Stile before the Judges for p[ro]bate of wills and grantinge Administrations Lawfully Authorized by the oath of Phillipp Marshall sole Executor named in the said will to whom Adm[inistrati]on was Comitted of all and singular the goods Chattels and debts of the said deceased he beinge First sworne truely to Administer the same.
