In 1830, Jeptha and his wife were living in Blount County, Tennessee. The census gave Jeptha as head of family which contained one male 20 to under 30 years of age and one female 20 to under 30 years of age. A Nancy Browder was living in the nearby county of Roane and so was John Browder. Fanny Browder, Japtha's mother is listed as head of Family in 1830 census.
I have not been able to find Jeptha in the 1840 census. He was probably living with his mother, Fanny at that time.
In the 1850 census, on tape 1806, page 447, Jeptha and his wife Nancy are listed as living in Knox County with seven children. Myra Jane was their oldest child and had left home in 1848 to marry George B. Kennedy. One of the boys listed in the census was Darius, who was the D. E. Browder listed as her brother in Myra Jane's obituary. I found Darius in the 1910 Texas census tape 1558, Hall Co. Memphis taken Mat 2, 1910 living with his daughter and son-in-law. One of his sons, James D. Browder was living nearby.
Jeptha's name appears three times in the probate of Walter B. Kennedy of 1854 to 1957.
Jeptha Browder's father, John Browder was established by his father's will, obtaind from Roane County, year 1818, will book A, page 110,111. In the following item:
I give and Bequeath to my son Jeptha Browder my tract of land lying in the forks of Holston and Tennessee rivers negro boy Ned and a tolerable good horse when he arrives at the age of twenty one years.
