The real puzzle of all of this is my father NEVER told us anything of his family. He either never knew or just blocked it out and never talked about it, the only thing he ever told us was his father walked away from them at the cemetery and left them. He was only 6 years old and that was not true because his father took them to Streater Illinois for 2 years and that was where he left them. He never said any thing of living 2 years in the foster home. All he said was (and then not much) of living on the boys farm and having to work hard and didn"t have many cloths. My father hated the Chapmans. Although I don't think they were ever mistreated they were just not loved. The other thing was when he became 21 he bought himself a brand new Ford car, he told my mother that he recieved a very expensive ring from his mothers estate. My mother always felt bad because she felt he should have kept and given it to her. Well per every thing I have researched his mother never had any thing and the money he got was the money from his grandmother Mary Ann's estate and yes that was enough to buy the brand new car. In the 1950's when my brother Joel wanted to marrie his 1st wife Brigetta (she is german and lived in Germany) he was in the service over there they had to have a copy of my dad's birth certificate. So we went down to Fulton to get it. He said at that time he saw in the index of deaths his mothers name. Now when I started to look for her death cetificate down there, I could never find it (but I found the death certificate of his grand mother Mary Knight - Jerome's wife.
