Facts and Events
Name Jane Walby
Gender Female
Christening[1] 17 Nov 1652 Aston, Hertfordshire, England
Burial[2] 17 Mar 1671 Aston, Hertfordshire, England

Jane Walby was baptised on 17th November 1652 at Aston in Hertfordshire, daughter of Martha Walby, formerly Smith, and her husband George Walby, a butcher. When she was eight years old her father died. He left her five pounds in his will, which was to be paid after her mother had also died.

Jane has yet to be traced for certain after her father's death. There was a Jane Walby who was buried at Aston on 17th March 1671, who was described as the daughter of a widow called Rose Walby. It is possible the person writing the register muddled up Martha's name with that of her youngest daughter. If this Jane, then she was eighteen years old when she died.

It seems likely that Jane's mother's name has been muddled up with that of Jane's younger sister. No other evidence of a wife or widow called Rose Walby has been found in the Aston baptism, marriage or burial registers.
