Jane Timothy was born on 23rd May 1823 and baptised three months later in the parish of St Leonard, Shoreditch, immediately north-east of the City of London. She was the daughter of Jane Timothy, formerly Cassanet, and her husband David Timothy, a feather merchant. Jane was the eldest of the couple's children. Sadly Jane died when she was only ten years old, being buried in the parish of St Giles Cripplegate in London.
