"Ellsworth - Aug. 19 – James Franklin Winans, 79, died last Friday at his home on the Canfield-Ellsworth road in this township of paralysis with which he was stricken some weeks since. Deceased was born in Newton township, Trumbull county, Nov. 22, 1846, a son of Austin and Mary Broadsword Winans, and with his parents came to Ellsworth township when eight years old and this had since been his home, having resided 44 years on the farm where he died, enjoying the respect and esteem of the people of the community in which he so long lived. He was a carpenter by trade but devoted most of his time to farming. On July 12, 1877, he was married to Miss Jane Witherstine of North Jackson, who survives with the following children: Mrs. Grace Hugli of Milton, William, Emory, Maggie, and Bertha Winans of Ellsworth; eight grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Frank Knauf of Knaufville, and two brothers, Homer of Ellsworth and Isaac of Plymouth, Cal.
