- ↑ ALTONA - James Dale Sheeley, 78, of Altona died at 9:17 PM Saturday, June 3, 2000, at OSF St Mary's Medical Center in Galesburg. Born July 19, 1921, in Galesburg to William F. and Vera B. Hartnell Sheeley, he married Phyllis Jean Engstrom on July 19, 1941, in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Sharon Sheeley of Rice Lake, Wis., Nancy Sheeley-Reynolds of Dunn, N.C., Sheila Sheeley-Butler of Kansas City, MO, and Inez Sheeley of Altona; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in ddeath by one son, Ronald and one brother. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and a member of Altona American Legion Post 390. He also was a member of Altona Lodge 330, AF & AM. He was a member of United Church of Altona. Graveside services will be at 11 AM Tuesday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Military rites will be accorded by his American Legion Post. The Rev. Dr. T.J. Johnson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Watson Funeral Home in Galesburg is in charge of arrangements.
