   James (Matt) Rector, 83, a retired farmer of the Dadeville community, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, January 21, in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Maude Asbell of Aldrich.
   
   Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Dadeville Baptist Church by Rev. Tom Procter. Burial was in Dadeville Masonic cemetery.
   
   Mr. Rector, in failing health of the past year, is survived by two sons, George of Decatur, Illinois, and Clyde of Everton; four other daughters, Mrs. Madge Hanson of Chico, California; Mrs. Lillie Whiteside of Decatur, Illinois, Mrs. Eunice Cole of Santa Ana, California, and Mrs. Maxine Langford of Springfield, Missouri, two brothers, Charles of Greenfield and Luther of Jerico Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Docia McClelland of Ash Grove and Mrs. Rose Eidson of the state of California, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
   
   James Madison Rector was born August 22, 1870, near Dadeville, Missouri. He departed this time, being at the time of his home of his daughter, Mrs. Asbell of Aldrich, Missouri with whom he had made his home for some time, being at the time of his death, 83 years, 5 months of age. He was the son of Lilbern and Emily Rector, and of six children namely, Cain Rector, deceased, Luther, Jerico Springs; Charley of Greenfield, Doshia McClelland of Ash Grove, Rose Edison of Seattle, Washington. His mother died when he was only 5 years old. His father remarried later to Lucinda Needham, a widow when he was only 5 years old. His father remarried later to Lucinda Needham, a widow with two children, namely, Bud Needham, deceased and Delia Vanhooser of Everton, Missouri. To this union 4 children were born. Della Phillips of Seattle, Washington, Coy, deceased, Elmer of Oregon and Rhoda Heifner of Diamond, Missouri.
   
   Matt was united in marriage October 16, 1894 to Dona Gray Laffoon. To this union nine children were born, namely George of Decatur, Illinois, Clyde of Everton, Missouri; Madge Hansen, of Chico, California, Maude Asbell of Aldrich, Missouri, Lillie Whiteside of Decatur, Illinois, Eunice Cole of Santa Anna, California, and Maxine Langford of Springfield, Missouri. Two children died in infancy.
   
   His wife preceded him in death February 13, 1948. He had spent his entire life in the Dadeville community. He was converted and baptized some years ago. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow men. Doing anything he could to benefit humanity. He was a kind and loving father and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Besides his children he leaves 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
   
   Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Tom Procter in the First Baptist Church in Dadeville, Missouri, Sunday, January 24, 1954 at 2:00 p.m. with a large crowd in attendance and many beautiful floral contributions.
   
   Pall bearers were: Horace Fite, Eldon King, Sheldon Toler, William Dodson, Ray Tunnell and Edd Maze.
   
   Burial was in the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery under direction of the Canada Funeral Home.
