James OSWALD (abt 1779-3jun1853) was MP for Glasgow (Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry). James inherited Auchincruive in 1841 from his cousin Richard Alexander, son of George (Old country houses). James Oswald of Shieldhall, Renfrewshire, was admitted as freeholder in 1821 (Times). Shieldhall was sold to Alexander Johnston in 1838 (Old country houses).
