I believe James was a son of Benjamin Myers and Patsy Frazier. He married Nancy B. Shankland in 1844.

  According to a WorldConnect database, James was born about 1818/1827 in Kentucky and died 1890 in Kansas. William Alfred Watkins; Sarah Catherine 1860-1886; and Ellen Louise 1863-1864.

 In the 1850 census for Nicholas Co., Kentucky, James Myers is a farmer, age 29, laborer.  His wife Nancy is 24, and the children are Arthur 4; Mary F. 2; and Benjamin M. 1. {p.475a, #390} His household is next to [father?] Benjamin Myers 52, farmer; with Harriet 32; William J. 13; James M. 10; and David W. 2.  Next door is [brother?] David H. Myers 25 with Mary Ann 22; Henry C. 21; Benjamin F. 17; and [grandfather?] David 70.
 In the 1860 census for Lee, Brown Co., Illinois, James Myers is a farmer, age 36 Kentucky; with Mrs. N. 23 [?] KY; A.N. [Arthur] 13 KY; M. F. [Mary] 12 KY; B. M. [Benjamin] 11 KY; E[dward] F. 10 KY;  S[amuel] T. 5 Illinois; Judith 3 IL; and S[arah] C. 3 months IL. {p. 846 roll 157 HeritageQuest}  They are on the same page as Thomas Myers 25 KY and family.
 In the 1870 census for Lee, Brown Co., Illinois, James Myers is 48 'farm laborer' from Kentucky; with Nancy B. 44 'keeping house' KY; Benjamin 20 KY; Edward F. 18 KY: Samuel 14 IL; Judith 12 IL; and Sarah 10. {p. 9 / 54 roll 189 HeritageQuest}
In the 1880 census for Township 18 N., Range 8 W. [Chandlerville], Cass Co., Illinois, James Myers is 62, born Kentucky, (parents Kentucky), farmer.
