[edit] Information on James FarrisJames Esom Farris settled on Dick's Creek, near Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Virginia (KY). Life was violent during this period. Two of James's sons, NATHAN FARRIS and ISAAC FARRIS, were killed by Cherokee Indians in January 1790. Earlier in 1786 two other sons, JOHN ESOM FARRIS and ISHAM FARRIS, helped bury the dead after McNitt's Defeat in what is now Levi Jackson Wilderness State Park. In 1791 a third son, ELISHA FARRIS, was killed by Cherokee Indians near Gate City, Virginia (along with his wife and daughter).
