James Arnold was baptised on 26th April 1761 at Luton in Bedfordshire, son of Elizabeth Arnold, formerly Stokes, and her husband John Arnold. The family lived in the hamlet of Newmill End on the River Lea to the south of the town.

James has yet to be traced after his baptism.
