To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that in pursuance of an Act of the General Assembly passed on the twenty third day of November Eighteen hundred and nine There is granted by the State of Tennessee unto Thomas Wooden assignee of James Anderson a certain tract of or parcel of land containing One hundred and Seventy three Acres and one Road within the Tracts located for the use of Colleges lying in the County of Blount in the District South of French Broad and Holston on Holston River there being due and chargeable on said land the sum of One hundred and Seventy three Dollars and twenty five Cents with the Interest due thereon Beginning at a hickory on the River bank and running with Vacant Land South fifty give Chain and nine Tenths to a hickory South fifty three West twenty nine Chain and five Tenths to a post oak South thirty West thirty eight Chain and eight Tenth to a pine North fifty five West thirty one Chain to a post oak South eighty West thirty five Chain and five Tenths to a black oak North seventy Chain to a stake and pointers South eighty East sixty three Chain and five Tenths to a Black and North fifteen East forty Chain to a Stake and pointers then with the River South eighty five and an half East thirty Chain and Seven Tenths to a hickory the Beginning Surveyed May the twenty ninth Eighteen hundred and Seven. With its appurtenances to Have and to Hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Thomas Wooden and his heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof Willie Blount Governor of the State of Tennessee hath hereunto set his hand and caused the great seal of the said State to be affixed at Knoxville on the twenty first day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and ten and of American Independence the Thirty fourth.
