Jacob and his brother immigrated. Jacob settled near Ashville, Ohio, and later bought a farm in Circleville Twp. His brother, Michael's, obituary says he was born in Flonheim, Kreis Ulzey, Hessen Darmstadt, Germany and immigrated in 1840.

Jacob Kellstadt, one of the oldest residents of this county died Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock of uraemic poison at his home on East Mound Street. - Moved from his farm in Circleville Twp, to Circleville 25 years before his death. A lifelong Democrat. Mr. Kellstadt came from a sturdy German stock.

Venerable Jacob Kellstadt Dead - Settled in This County in 1840

Jacob Kellstadt, one of the oldest residents of this county, died Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock of uraemic poison at his home on East Mound Street.
Mr. Kellstadt was born in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, April 27, 1815, and came to this country in 1840, settling in this county near Ashville. Later he bought a farm in Circleville township and occupied the same until some twenty-five years ago when he moved to this city.
February 13, 1845, Mr. Kellstadt was united in marriage to Miss Rosina Elizabeth Bauer by Rev. Joseph Roof.
Mrs. Kellstadt died in 1898. Thirteen children were born to this union, nine of whom survive: Michael and Jacob Kellstadt of Circleville township, William E. of Columbus, Mrs. Joseph Turner of Princeton, Ill., Mrs. Isaac Dunkle of Circleville township, Mrs. Margaret Ebert of this city, Mrs. Jonah Woolever of Walnut township, Mrs. Milton Wegerly of Circleville township and Mrs. Edward Frey of Lima.
Mr. Kellstadt also leaves a brother, Philip Kellstadt, and a sister, Mrs. Geo. Dell, who reside at Brimfield, a station near Peoria, Ill.
Mr.Kellstadt came from a sturdy German stock and with his brother who came from the fatherland in the early days, was identified with the pioneer history and politics of the county. He was a life long Democrat.
Mr. Kellstadt was a good farmer and business man of the old school. Since the death of his wife, his widowed daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ebert, has kept house for him. Deceased was an adherent of the teachings of Martin Luther and a member of the Trinity Lutheran church of this city.
The funeral was held from the Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. G. J. Troutman officiated. Burial was in Forest Cemetery.

Jacob's will dated 18 Mar 1890, codicil dated 18 Mar 1890 and probated 27 Feb 1904, names wife, Rosina, and same children and grandchildren as his wife's will written the same day. In the codicil he states, "As to household and personal property, I especially desire that they should not sell the same but preserve them as a keepsake and remembrance of the old family home."
