Obituary
The news of the death of Mrs. Rosa E. Kellstadt at
her home on Mound Street, Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock was a
shock to the many friends of the deceased, especially the older
residents, among whom she has spent the greater part of her useful
life.
Rosa Elizabeth Kellstadt was the daughter of Jacob and Rosa Bowers,
and was born in Baden, Germany, coming to this country a few years later
and settling in this county.
On February 15, 1845, she was married to Jacob Kellstadt by
Rev. Joseph Roof, pastor of Trinity German Lutheran church in this city.
With the exception of several years in the county, Mrs.
Kellstadt has been a resident of Circleville since her marriage, and
has been from early childhood a member of the German Lutheran
Church, taking an active interest in all church work.
Mrs. Kellstadt leaves her husband, Jacob Kellstadt, and ten
children, Elizabeth, Michael, Rosa, Jacob, George, Margaret, Catherine, Matilda,
Henry, William and Martha to mourn her death, while three children, Charles, Martin
and one other have preceded their mother in death. One brother of the deceased,
Mr. George Bowers, is a prominent farmer in Walnut township. Mrs. Kellstadt has
been in failing health for the past three years, but had not been seriously ill until
June 14, when her condition grew worse, ending in her death.
The funeral was held Tuesday at 2 o'clock, standard time, from Trinity
Lutheran church.
Rosina's will was written 18 Mar 1890, codicil 18 Mar
1890, probated 27 Feb 1904. Her husband, Jacob, and children,
Elizabeth Kellstadt (formerly Noggle), Michael Kellstadt, Rosa
Dunkel, Jacob Kellstadt, Margareth Ebert, Catherine Wholaver,
Matilda Wegerly, Henry Kellstadt, William Kellstadt, Mattie J. Fry,
and George Kellstadt, deceased in 1890, his daughter, Clara
Kellstadt.
