"In the 1840 Brooklyn City Directory a Jacob S. Jackson is listed as a milkman at the same address as Coe D. Jackson: Wallabout near Clinton Ave.

"Birth and death dates are from the gravestone in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. According to the 1870 US Census, Jacob was blind and possibly deaf. Lynn Jackson Bacon of California reports that her grandfather,George Ross Jackson, left for California to make his fortune because the family assets were left to support Jacob.

"According to a report in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of 6 Dec 1927, Jacob S. Jackson's estate was valued at $89,746 with a net worth of $82,811. It was divided thus: Frederick W. Jackson and George R. Jackson, brothers, Theodore K. Hastings, nephew and Ella D. C. Hawkins, sister, each got $13,801. John M. Jackson, nephew, Edna Jackson, niece, each got $6900. Frederick H. Edgar, Clarence J. Edgar, nephews, Mayme L. Cornwall and Bessie J. Zollinhofer, nieces, each got $3450. Frederick W. Jackson, of 225 Lincoln Place, was the executor."
