Jacob appears in the "Berne, NY - Family Files" www.bernehistory.org He married Cynthia Barton dau of Sylvanus and Sarah (Tripp). According to this record they had 10 children: Lewis b 1832 Sarah A. b 1835 Phebe J. b abt 1837 Mary M. b 1838 Luciette E. b 1839 Julia Maria b 19 Sep 1840 Cynthia Ann b 17 Mar 1842 Eveline b 19 Mar 1845 Adaline b 10 Mar 1845 (twin to Eveline) Sylvanus b 1846 In the 1860 census for Berne Jacob (Boomhawer) 56 and Cynthia 51, were listed along with 7 children (Lucietta 21, Julia 18, Adeline and Eveline twins at 16, plus two not mentioned above: Jacob E. b 1847, Isaac b abt 1852. In the 1870 census for Berne, Jacob Boomhauver 65 is living with Mary 36, Eugene 22 and Adaline 25. Next door is Sylvanus 23 and family, also listed as Boomhauver. Also on the Berne site under headstones we find a picture of the headstone for Jacob Boomhower b. Sept. 4, 1801 and d. Aug 10, 1877; Cynthia Barton, his wife, b. Apr. 17, 1809 and d. Jan. 4, 1870. The headstone is located in S. Berne Rural Cemetery. Is this the Jacob Boomhower who was the son of Michael and Eva or is it the other Jacob who remained in Brunswick? It's a puzzlement.
