    "IV. Jabez Hyde (58), born at Norwich West Farms (now Franklin), Conn., 16 Sept., 1713, the eldest son of Jabez Hyde (8) the first, and Elizabeth Bushnell, of Norwich, was a grandson of Samuel Hyde (2) the first, and Jane Lee, of Norwich. He m. 8 Dec., 1736, Lydia Abel (587), b. 28 July, 1719, at Norwich, the eldest daughter of his second cousin, Benjamin Abel (96), and Lydia Hazen, of Norwich. They settled at Norwich West Farms, where he was a very extensive land holder. She d. 25 June, 1803. He survived her, and lived to a very advanced age. He was a magistrate of Norwich, and d. 6 March, 1805, at Franklin."

    Lydia's father Benjamin was not a Hyde descendant, and therefore not a second cousin to Jabez Hyde. See discussion on the family page for Caleb Abell and Margaret Post.
