Tuition 1610 to Giles Parker, who had grant of Admin. 1617 of her brothers Thomas and Edward, both of whom died without issue. Isabella was named in the will of her uncle Thomas Waddington 1583. She married 1616 John Holden of Chaigley and Grindleton Estate passed to the Holdens. Descended from Richard de Wadyngton 1388 of Coley, Halifax. From John Waddington's "Who's Who" 1616 Ped. 48 p. 33 Isabella Waddington of Grindleton, daughter of Edward Waddington 1579 of Grindleton and the only sister of Thomas Waddington 1610 of Grindleton & Grey's Inn, London. Also only sister of Edward Waddington 1613 of Grindleton and their sole heir. Tuition 1610 to Giles Parker of Horrockford (her Mother's father, who had grant of Adminstration 1617 of her brothers Thomas Waddington 1610 and Edward Waddington 1613. She was also named in will of her uncle Thomas Waddington 1576 of Grindleton. Her brothers dying without issue, she inherited the estate at Grindleton of her grandfather, Thomas Waddington 1540 of Grindleton. This estate was formerly in the possession of the Foule family and passed by marriage to Edward Waddington 1516 of Hpperholme, Halifax, and of Grindleton, in right of his wife Ellen, daughter and co-heir of Thomas Foule of Grindleton who died 1585. Isabella Waddington married 1616 John Holden of Chaigley and the estate of Grindleton passed by marriage to the Holdens of Chaigley and from them to the family of Brockholes of Claughton. The ancient name of the Foule Holding was "Le Clough House" and the present place called "White Hall" was the Waddington residence also known as "Glube Hall" in Grindleton. It was sold in 1623 to Richard Shireburn of Stonyhurst in 1780 when the St. Clair family became the owners until 1911, from which date George Frankland became the owner. From a younger branch of this Waddington family, vis: Roger Waddington 1569 of Southowram, nr. Halifax, descends the present owner of "Waddington Hall" (John Waddington 1879) (see "Boland," by Colonel J. Parker, C.B., F.S.A., of Brownholme (1926).
