Edward Waddington of Grindleton, nr. Waddington, bd 1616, Waddington, ob. s.p.; Matric. St. John's, Cambridge, Easter, 1606. Under age 1610. B.A. 1610. Tution to Giles Parker, md. Agnes Ellis, claimed dower, decree 16 James. She married (2) 1617 at Waddington Michael Gledhill of Barkisland. Son of Edward Waddington 1579 of Grindleton. Descended from Edward de Wadyngton 1388, of Coley, Halifax. Isabella Waddington only sister and sole heir to her 2 brothers, Thomas Waddington 1610 and Edward Waddington 1613. Tuition 1610 to Giles Parker who had grant of Adminstration 1617 of her brothers Thomas and Edward. She was also named in the will of her uncle Thomas Waddington 1583 of Grindleton and London. Isabella Waddington, md. 1616 John Holden of Chaigley.

John Holden and Isabel his wife v. Agnes, widow of Edward Waddington. Depositions taken at Clitheroe, co. Lancs., 13 Jan. 15 James 1.

"Thomas Parker of Browsholme, co. Yorks, gent. aged 60, says he knew Thomas Waddington and Edward Waddington, his brother now late Deceased and they both died without issue and said Isabel is sole sister of the whole blood of Edward and Thomas and he knows the lands in variance in Grindleton and Bradford and says Thomas entered into the lands and took the profits as heir to Edward his father after his death. He says Sir James Altham, knt. Baron of the Exchequer, was kinsman to the said Thomas who at one time was in his service. Edward, father of Thomas was seised of the said lands and died in March 1610. He further says Agnes the defendant used the complainant Isabel very hardly when she dwelt with her brother Edward and he had often heard Agnes say that her husband would leave Isabel no lands unless she behaved herself otherwise to him than she had done. Elizabeth Tayhorir, wife of John Tayhorir, of Grindleton, aged 46, says Agnes was a very mean marriage to her husband Edward and had nothing or little with her in marriage, was a very unthrifty and was wasteful after her marriage, a haunter of alehouses and the cause of her husband falling into debt. Richard Waddington of Bradford, co. York, yoeman, aged 55, says he was present at the making of the will of the said Edward, the son, who was very Weak and ill and his wife and her friends caused to be put in he contradicted not and died four days after. "

John Waddington of Grindleton, co. Yorks, husbandman, aged 34 (as above) and others also made statements.
