An order has been entered by Surrogate George M. Penney permitting a compromise and settlement of an action against Irving M. Crossett and Howard G. Hoan for the wrongful death of Mayme D. Crossett, late of Orwell. The action was brought by Isabell M. Crossett as administrator of the estate of the decedent, who died in the Oswego hospsital on Oct 8, 1953 of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Sept. 25th that year. The decedent was a passenger in a light truck driven by Irving M. Crossett which was struck by an automobile driven by Hoan while crossing Route 104-B in the Town of New Haven. Crossett, life resident of Orwell , passed away Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Irving was born October 16,1932, in Williamstown, the son of Dwight and Isabelle Roser Crossett. He attended Altmar-Parish Schools. Irving was married to Dorothy Cronk on June 24, 1972; she died May 14, 1999. He then married Helen Monteith on August 26, 2000. He was employed by the Oswego County Highway Department for 23 years, retiring in 1995. He previously owned and operated a dairy farm on County Route 30 for 25 years. Irving was a 62-year member of the Ricard Grange, a life member of Flywheels and Pulleys in Constableville, and the John Deere 2 Cylinder Club in Central Square. Surviving: wife, Helen J.; three stepdaughters, Pauline (Bill) Scheinert of Oswego Pamela Combs of Oswego and Georgia Monteith of Scriba; two stepsons, Gregory Monteith of Scriba and Ernie (Michelle) Monteith of North Syracuse; two brothers Robert (Norma) Crossett of Orwell and Willard (Candy) Crossett of Rodman; eight stepgrandchildren... Funeral services will be held... Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown. References
