    Crash Injuries Fatal to Abilene Oil Dealer; Funeral Set Today
    Funeral for Irl Slaughter, 55, Abilene independent oil distributor will be held at 4PM Friday in Elliott's Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Harile Woolard, Pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating.

    Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott's Funeral Home.

    Mr. Slaughter received injuries in an auto truck crash Monday, a mile south of the Country Club on the Coleman Highway that proved fatal at 1PM Thursday. He had been in critical condition in HendrickMemorial Hospital since the accident.

    Mr. Slaughter, owner of Slaughter Oil Co. was born November 12, 1896 in Duncan, Oklahoma. A resident of Abilene for a number of years, he was a member of the University Baptist Church.

    Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles Slaughter with the Air Force in Tucson, Arizona; one daughter, Mrs. H.B. Hixon of San Antonio; one stepdaughter Mrs. Leo Blythe of Abilene; two stepsons, Joe and Ben Wallis of Abilene; one brother A.C. Slaughter of Abilene and his mother, E.P. Slaughter of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

    Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Everett Lamb of Abilene, Mrs. J.E. Claxton of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Roanna Adams of Chickasha, Oklahoma and two grandchildren."
