Slaughter Rites Slated
Funeral for A.C. Slaughter, 70, retired Abilene businessman here, will be held at 3PM Thursday in the Kiker-Warren Funeral Home Chapel.
Dr. John Donaho, pastor of St. Paul Methodist Church and Dr. D.A. Long, visitation pastor at the church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Slaughter died Tuesday at 8:30AM at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Big Spring. He had been ill for seven weeks and had been hospitalized the past week. A resident of Abilene since 1929, Mr. Slaughter entered business here as a wholesale oil distributor for Economy Oil Co. Later he operated the Ring-Free Distributing Co. For 10 years prior to his retirement a year ago, he operated theWes-Tex Fire Extinguishing Co.
Born in Beckham County, Oklahoma, he married Fannie Artharlony Oct 18, 1924 in Oklahoma City. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church here. Surviving are his wife: one daughter, Mrs. Homer Plowman of San Gabriel, California; his mother, Mrs. Effie Slaughter of Chickasha, Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. Everett Lamb of Odessa; Mrs J.E. Claxton of Las Vegas Nevada and Mrs Roy McElreath of Chickasha and two grandchildren."
