Facts and Events
From the Sept. 23, 1909, edition of the Monona (Ia.) Leader Obituary At a late hour Friday night at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Whittle, occurred the death of their oldest child, Irene Anna, at the age of 9 years and 2 days. For eight long weeks she was a patient sufferer from a complication of diseases and all that loving hands and medical aid could do were of no avail. She was an exemplary girl in every way and her death coming as it did, just in the prime of her life has cast the deepest gloom over many hearts, not only those of relatives, but a large circle of friends as well. She was a faithful child with a bright and promising future still before her, only to be stricken down by death. She was honored and respected by every one, for she was always of a bright and sunny disposition, winning many friends by her kind words and deeds for every one, never complained, but was always loving and patient. She is survived by her father and mother, three brothers, Bernard, Clarence and Wyman, besides a large host of relatives and friends. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at St. Vincelaus church, Rev. Father Hogan officiating. His sermon left a deep impression on the large congregation. The profusion of floral tributes and the unusual attendance of friends on this sad occasion, silently and forcibly displayed the esteem in which the departed was held. Four schoolmates of the deceased acted as pallbearers, and four as flower girls, Magdalene Jarms, Anna Kadlec, Marie Lestina, Barbara Lestina, Minnie Chapek, Liddie Kadlec, Lottie Klima, Tillie Havlicek. CARD OF THANKS To the many friends who so kindly assisted us in our last sad tribute, we extend our heartfelt. MR. AND MRS. WHITTLE AND FAMILY Image Gallery
