INA KING lna King, on outstanding teacher or piano for pre-school children, died early Tuesday, December 16, 1975 In Kitchener General Hospital. The late Mrs. King will be fondly remembered by scores of former pupils in Brandon and Winnipeg for her gift of imparting her great love for, and appreciation of music.

She was born In Winnipeg on October 24, 1882, three years after the arrival of her pioneer parents, Thomas Lewis and Angelina Arnett, to the prairie capital. With her family she moved to Brandon where she completed her education and taught school, prior to marrying Clarence King in 1904.

Following study with Bernice Frost of the Julliard School of Music in New York, Mrs. King introduced her unique teaching method, which enabled very young children to read music and enjoy playing the piano. In this she was well ahead of her time. She was a respected member of the Manitoba Music Teacher’s Association, and in 1974 she was the recipient of a certificate honouring her 30 years of membership in this association.

Mrs. King was a charter member of Westworth United Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. R.P. (Lilien) Fraser, Regina; Mrs. A.G. (Edith) Chalmers, Kitchener; Mrs. Kathleen Kennedy, Winnipeg; and three sons: Kenneth King, Winnipeg, Stuart King, Kenora and Alan King of Montreal; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence in 1940 and by a daughter Kathryn; as well as her brothers Thomas L. Arnett, Jonathan Hughes Arnett and Leslie Arnett and her sisters, Frances Olive Logan and Margaret Arnett McLeod.
