Mrs. Lewis Arnett, 93, Pioneer, Succumbs

The death occurred on Saturday of Mrs. Angelina Arnett in her 94t year. Born at Strathroy, Ont., Mrs. Arnett, with her husband, the late Lewis Arnett, businessman of the early days of this city, arrived in St. Boniface in 1879, crossing the river to reach her home in Winnipeg. She resided here until 1886, when she moved to Brandon. Last October she returned, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ina King.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas Lewis, Winnipeg; Jonathan Hughes, Justice; Leslie, New York City, and three daughters, Mrs. Olive Logan, Minneapolis, Minn; Mrs. Margaret McLeod, Toronto, and Mrs. King, Winnipeg; also 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. J.H. Hughes of Brandon, and a brother, Dr. P.H. Hughes of Merced, California.

THe funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:45pm at the Gardiner funeral chapel. The pallbearers will be Richard Bowles, Ralph Fraser, Leslie Bodie, Emerson Arnett, Kenneth King of Winnipeg and Stuart King of Kenora. The burial will be in Brookside cemetary and Dr. W. E. Donnelly will conduct the service.
