Ida 'Aida' Brody had five brothers and sisters.She was the oldest child. Three died in Lechevitch. Grandma Ida Brode did not go to school because it was so far away and too dangerous tro travel through the woods where the " wild beasts would get her." In Lechevitch there was a great fire which touched three towns forcing all to esacpe to thre cemetary, the only safe place from the fire. She was also caught in a town where there was a bubonic plague. She had to be smuggled out in a hearse.

She was the first to come to America at about age 20 in 1899.She arrived in New York on October 5, 1899.She had wide hips which the boys liked. Through boy friends she acquired three state passes to travel out of Russia.

Ida Brody Wener's Alien Registration form 1857, dated Sep 19, 1940 in Memphis, Tenn. says she was born Oct 15, 1881 in Lecovitz, Minsk Russia, that she is a Russian citizen, that she entered New York on a steamship in December 1901 and that she had lived in US 39 years as of 1940.
