Hezekiah is shown or transcribed with a variety of middle initials, but J for James is the most frequent. Another indicator for James is Hezekiah's oldest son, Thomas, named his first son Hezekiah James Morrow. Hezekiah is a name that appears every couple of generations as a first or middle name for his male descendents. A recurring name for his female descendents is Dialtha/Alta/Althy.

William Busby is listed on marriage bond for marriage to Eliz. Jones.
William Busby is listed on marriage bond for marriage to Eliz. Ray, with W(illiam) L(ee) Davidson as witness.

1820 Iredell Co, NC: Hezekiah H. Morrow (p. 169)
1m u10 (Thomas)
2m 26-45 (Hezekiah and Unknown Male)
1f u10 (Unknown Female)
1f 26-45 (Unknown Female? Age doesn't agree with birthdate or future censuses for Elizabeth Ray, perhaps this is the wife of the Unknown Male aged 26-45?)

In 1820, Hezekiah's father and brothers are in the census for Mecklenburg County, so why would Hezekiah be in Iredell? Reviewing the other families in the Iredell census, Hezekiah lives in the vicinity of several McKnight famiies (McKnight was his father's middle name) and also several families with Cashion and Washam surnames.* Hezekiah and Elizabeth Ray married in 1820 and this researcher believes that Elizabeth Ray's mother's maiden name was Hannah Cashion, so his young second wife may have been living in one of those households.

  • There are several families of both Washams and Cashions around George McKnight Morrow's family in the 1820 census in Mecklenburg County.

1f 10-14 (Hannah)
1f 15-19 (Mary or Nancy)
1f 20-29 (Unknown Female under 10 from 1820 census? If this is a daughter of Hezekiah, it is possible that her name is Elizabeth Morrow (daughter of Elizabeth Jones): Hezekiah's mother was named Elizabeth and all of his children have a mother named Elizabeth, so it seems likely that he would have a daughter named Elizabeth, but none of his known daughters were given the name. It's all speculation on my part, but if a lost Elizabeth Morrow born between 1811 and 1820 is found, this may be her family.)
1f 30-39 (Elizabeth Ray)
Missing: George and Mary/Nancy (I do find George in later censuses, though, and in 1840 Mary would be 16 and Nancy would be 18, so one of them may have married by this time) (Thomas Morrow and his family are listed separately on page 13 of the Blount census)

1850 and Beyond:
Both Hezekiah and Elizabeth are believed to have died between 1842 (daughter Margaret's birth) and 1850 (neither can be located in any 1850 census). From the 1850 census onward, the younger Morrow children can be found living with various family members and neighbors.

The names and dates for Hezekiah's children have been passed down through many generations of descendents of William Britton Morrow, most have not been confirmed with a paper trail so it is possible that they were once recorded in a family bible that is no longer in existence.
