The body of Herman Roser, 65, of 91 W. Oneida ST, was found in the cellar of the home by his wife Dorothy Roser when she returned from a dental appointment. He had been shot in the head. Lt. Robert LaTulip of the Oswego police said that Mrs. Roser had returned to find the house locked up, but succeeded in getting in and then went through the building looking for her husband... a member of the family said that Roser was a "little nervous" but no reason was known for his action... District Attorney Eugene F. Sullivan... issued a verdict of death by suicide. Oswego Palladium-Times, 20 Jan 1971: HERMAN ROSER Herman Roser, 65, retired general foreman of the electrical department at Niagara Mohawk Steam Station, Oswego, was found dead Tuesday at his home, 91 W. Oneida ST. He was the husband of Dorothy Cronk Roser. Born at Orwell, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Boshcart Roser. He was a member of Lake City Lodge 127, F&AM, Niagara Mohawk Local IBEW, Ricard Grange, and State National Grange. Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Madison (Wilma) Eaton of North Syracuse; two brothers, Clarence and Clinton Roser, both of Ricard; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Mitchell of Webster, Mrs. Ernest (Golda) Durgan of Ricard, and Mrs. Daniel (Eva) Furney, Williamstown. Funeral services will be held Thursday... at the Scoville Funeral Home. Burial will be at Williamstown. References
