1953 - Newspaper clipping: H. S. Nickerson, Lewiston, Dies. Lewiston, June 15 - Herbert S. Nickerson, 54, for 50 years a resident of lewiston, where he opened a garage and gas station, died at his home today. Born in St Davids, Not. Mr Nickerson received the Purple heart on overseas duty during World War 1 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2535, Lockport. He was also at one time commander of the American Legion post here, an exempt fireman and a member of the Moose lodge in Niagara Falls. Surviving are his widow, Mabel B. Nickerson, one daughter, Mrs Ethyle R. Chandler, eight sisters… two brothers… and two grandchildren…. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
