Transcription of text in document: The document has a very fancy heading showing the state of PA; and William Bigler's name as governor: To Henry Shissler of the County of Schuylkill, Esquire, Whereas, It appears by the return made and transmitted to me, according to law, that you, the said Henry Shissler, have been duly elected a Justice of the Peace, for the Township of East Norwegian, in the county of Schuylkill; Now Know You, That in conformity, with the Constitution and Laws of the Commonwealth, in such case made and provided, I do by these presents, commission you to be a Justice of the Peace in and for the said Township of East Norwegian, in the county of Schuylkill, Hereby giving and granting unto you, full right and title, to have and to execute all and singular the powers, jurisdiction, and authorities, and to receive and enjoy all and singular the emoluments to a Justice of the Peace lawfully belonging, or in anywise appertaining, by virtue of the Constitution and Laws of this Commonwealth. To have and to hold this commission and the Office hereby granted unto you the said Henry Shissler, for the term of five years to be computed from the day of the date of these presents, if you shall so long behave yourself well. Shissler. On 25 APR 1853 the property had belonged to Edward Shissler and his wife, Louisa Jessie. It appears to have also belonged to William C. Shissler and his wife, Catherine, at some point in time. The Indenture document is very large and is scanned in 4 parts. Transcription of text in document: This indenture made the First day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Seventy one between Henry Shissler and Anna his wife of the Borough of Port Carbon in the County of Schuylkill and State of Pennsylvania of the first part and John Lewis Shissler of the same town, county and State of the second part, Witnesseth, That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand Seven hundred and fifty Dollars lawful money of the United States of America, unto them well and truly paid by the said the party of the second part, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged; Have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released and confirmed, by these presents Do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release, and confirm unto the said party of the second part, his Heirs and Assigns, All that certain Frame House and lot of Ground marked one hundred and thirty five (135) on the map or plan of the said borough of Port Carbon aforesaid, as laid out by Seitzinger Keim and Company. Bounded westwardly by the other half part of said lot northwardly by Cherry Alley. Eastwardly by Pike Street aforesaid, Containing in front on said Pike Street thirty feet and extending in depth or length two hundred and forty feet (240) Being the same lot or piece of ground which Edward Shissler and Louisa Jessie his wife by indenture dated the twenty fifth day of April A. And the said Henry Shissler and Anna his wife their Heirs, Executors, Administrators, Do by these presents, covenant, grant, and agree to and with the said the party of the second part, His Heirs and Assigns, that they the said Henry Shissler and Anna his wife their Heirs, all and singular the Hereditaments and Premises herein above described and granted or mentioned and intended so to be, with the Appurtenances, unto the said the party of the second part, His Heirs and Assigns, against them the said Henry Shissler and anna his wife their Heirs, and against all and every Person or Persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof, by, from, or under him, them, or any of them, SHALL and WILL WARRANT and forever DEFEND. 1888-Henry's will is dated 16 SEP 1888. It leaves everything to his wife, Anna, and appoints his son, Edward, as executor. The will is probated 08 NOV 1888. This is scanned in 3 parts as I neglected to trim the top margin of the first page - the second page, which is probably actually page 3 is not transcribed as it is easy to read - what should be the second page would contain the rest of the date and Henry's signature as well as the signatures of the witnesses. Transcription of text in document: In the name of God Amen. I Henry Shissler of the Borough of Port Carbon, County of Schuylkill, State of Pennsylvania, being in health of body, and sound mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament, after the manner following, that is to say: First, I commit my spirit to God who gave it, and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken, until the day of resurrection through our Lord Jesus Christ. Second, I will and desire, as soon as may be expedient after my death, that so much of my Goods, Chattels, and effects as may be necessary to pay my Just debts, funeral and all other necessary expenses, be sold and disposed of in the most advantageous manner, and payment to be made without any unnecessary delay. Further I will and desire that my beloved wife Anna, to have all the money, Goods and effects including household and kitchen furniture that may remain after all my Just debts, and lawful expenses and charges are paid for her own uses and disposal. Last I constitude and appoint my son Edward Shissler of the Borough of Minersville, in the county and State above stated, as Executor of this my last will and testament, to carry out the above items and stipulations into effect.
