These notes are being made by Roy Bernard Kew son of Henry Joseph Kew. They are being made on May 9th 1992 at Wokingham in England:
As my Father died when I was a year old all these notes are really hearsay. I believe my father left Charter Alley and went to Kew in Surrey. Here he joined his Uncle Walter as an apprentice Butcher. Uncle Walter had a shop right on Kew Green. Whilst here Henry Joseph met Edith Emily Farrant, my Mother. Soon after Marriage, Henry set up shop in Uxbridge at 45, Windsor street. By the time he died in 1911 the business was thriving. Henry Joseph died at his birth place, Charter Alley whilst living at 29, Cowley Road, Uxbridge. A full account of his funeral appeared in the Middlesex Advertiser and Gazette at this time. Henry Joseph kew was a Mason belonging to a Lodge at Taplow Bucks. Because of this after his death his children Una, Ivy and Roy all were educated at Masonic Schools.
These notes are being entered by Roy Kew [Rin 1] in the year 1994:
Little is known of his early life but by the time he married in 1897 he was working for his Uncle Walter as a butcher in Walters shop at Kew Green. His first child Henry Cecil was born in Richmond and his second child born in 1900 was also at Richmond. It would seem that at that time he was still workiung for Walter at Kew. His next child was born in Uxbridge so between 1900 and 1904 he must have bought the shop in Windsor Street Uxbridge,He ran this very successfully until his death in 1911, A full account of his funeral was carried in the Middlesex Advertiser and Gazette published in Uxbridge. A copy of this paper was kept by Ivy Farrant and is probably still with Mary Baster. He died of heart trouble in 1911.
