Henry Nels Ingeman Opheim was the 2nd son of Nils Nielson Opheim and Eli Hermansdatter Frietheim. He was raised near Quandahl, Iowa. He went to Ada, MN to work. He was called back to help at the Quandahl store (letters: RELuehr). He later married Lena Marie Nelson Quandahl whose father owned the store.

Henry and Lena were renting land near Iowa River when Ellen Julia Opheim was born. They bought a farm near Quandahl in 1903.

In later life Henry became ill with stomach cancer. Both he and Lena, his wife, lived with daughter Ellen and her spouse, Bert Luehr, on their farm near Black Hammer, Houston, Minnesota.

Henry's grandmother, Alsi Samsonsdatt, was a Sater Jente in Norway. Immigrated from Norway in 1853. She brought the white apron with 4" Hardanger hem in the possession of RELuehr.
