Was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist religion.

He preferred to work nights as an internal grinding machinist. He worked in Leeds, Iowa. He came home unemploed the morning after his his daughter Betty was born, on 1 Aug 1833. "Well, Mother, it looks like they are closing down the plant."

He worked for the WPA in Sioux City in the CC Camps. They moved to Minneapolis, MN about 1941 to work for the Navy plant.

He was a laid-back guy.


They moved to Bremerton, Washington, about 1935. Just before WWI, Harry and his mother and 3 sisters moved to Turner's Station, Missouri. Then he was drafted into military service and had to return to Minnesota. He had a bit of a humped/crooked back, possibly due to polio as a child, so they immediately released him from military duty.
