Harry's birth is recorded in Carroll County book 2, page 12. His first name is spelled Henry in the birth record, but his headstone reads Harry L. Colar.
In the 1900 census for Loudon township, Carroll County, Ohio, Harry was living with his brother Francis Colar. He was listed as Harry J. Colar age 24, single, born March 1876. Note --- the birth records in the court house stated he was born April 16, 1878, and his headstone 1878.

H. L. Colar of near Kilgore was cheated out of a potential ham about four months ago when a pig was born on his farm that had but three legs. The piggy is without a right hind leg, Mr. Colar states that the pig seems perfectly normal in every other respect and is especially frisky. Mr. Colar said the pig must fight to cope with her brothers and sisters at meal time.

Harry L. Colar of Kilgore, died Friday at his home following an illness of nine months. A native of Carroll County, he had resided in this vicinity his entire life. He was a member of the Kilgore Lutheran Church.
Mr. Colar is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maude Colar; three sons, Paul, Ralph of Canton and Charles of Scio; five grandchildren; a brother, Francis and a sister, Mrs. Anne Reigle both of Kilgore. Funeral services were held at Arbaugh Funeral Home Monday with Rev. Edwin Wagstaff in charge. Interment was in Kilgore Cemetery.
